About us
We are the Environment Agency. It's our job to look after your environment and make it a better place - for you, and for future generations.
Our website is changing
We will be launching our new website soon. We have used your feedback to design the new site, and some of our typical customers from business, partners and the public have tested it. You will need to update any links you may have to our web pages.
Radiation levels in the environment
Authorised discharges from nuclear licensed sites do not pose a significant risk to public health and all doses are within legal limits. Find out more by reading our Radioactivity in Food and the Environment (RIFE) report.
Nitrate Vulnerable Zones support
An advice campaign has been launched to help prepare farmers for the new Nitrate Vulnerable Zone regulations which come into force on 1 January 2009. Farmers and advisers can make use of resources such as guidance leaflets, a dedicated helpline and information events.
Landfill Allowance Trading Scheme (LATS) performance
Local Authorities in England have cut the amount of biodegradable waste going to landfill. But EU targets in 2013 and 2020 will become progressively harder to achieve. Find out more by reading our Landfill Allowance Trading Report for 2007/8.
